An event to look at the multiple perspectives of community revitalization on the West Side of Buffalo will be hosted by the Urban Land Institute Western New York , on May 28 from 5 until 8 PM. It will also include the personal story of a Rwandan immigrant and business owner, Louise Sano.
A wave of community revitalization spurred by the collaborative efforts of numerous business owners, community members, residents, not-for-profit organizations and social service agencies have been experienced by the West Side of Buffalo. This program highlights these local efforts within a broader context of economic development, affordable housing and challenges facing immigrants and refugees.
Community leaders and experts will speak about the West Side Sustainable Community Plan to the attendees including topics such as local small business development and retention efforts, overcoming language and cultural barriers, and access to affordable housing.
