Cold December a blip on Buffalo housing market

Buffalo Niagara housing market

The only downside to the Buffalo Niagara housing market in 2013 was the sales slump in the final month.

According to the report from Buffalo Niagara Association of Realtors, there was a decrease with the number of single-family homes sold in December which fell 2.5 percent to 790 compared with 798 for the same month in 2012.

Month median prices also dropped 4.1 percent from $124,000 to $118,860 however the average price rose 1.6 percent from $142,132 to $144,355.

In addition to the decreasing numbers, the inventory for the month was also down 11.3 percent from 4,879 to 4,330.

The only month last year that did not result in a year-over-year sales increase was the December slow down, BNAR figures show.
