The redevelopment plans for the Hudson building will be reviewed by the Buffalo Preservation Board today. Located at 483 Main Street and adjacent to Martin Group’s recently-opened new headquarters, the Hudson building had been known as the long-time home of the Christian Science Room. Rebecca and Pete McCauley’s 483 Main Street LLC purchased the property last for $230,000. The plan is to turn the building into a mix of commercial and residential space.
With regards to exterior changes to the property, there is not much to anticipate. Its façad dates to 1928 that was designed by Hudson & Hudson, the same firm who also designed the similar façade of the nearby Berger’s Building. To obtain state and federal historic perservation tax credits for the project, the owners are working with preservation studios. The masonry will be repointed as necessary and the outside will be cleaned. A roof deck is being added while the windows are to be repaired.
The third floor will have a two-bedroom residence according to the plan. Meanwhile, there will be either another residential unit, office space, or a live/work unit on the second floor depending on tenant demand. Commercial space will be available on the ground floor.
