In an area screaming for redevelopment, Vornado Realty is grabbing the bull by the horns. The predominantly vacant TJ Maxx plaza at Sheridan Dr and Niagara Falls Blvd will hopefully get the green light to build a BJ’s Wholesale Club in that location, helping to fill the void left when Media Play and Circuit City left their store fronts. In addition, TJ Maxx would be expanding its operations and completing an interior renovation, and all the stores in the plaza (including Toys R Us) would see exterior facade improvements.
First, the town board must vote to rezone the parcels from general business to shopping center, in order to accommodate the freestanding gas station to be built by BJ’s. That vote is expected to take place on March 21.
This BJ’s location would be the 4th in Erie County. Other locations include the City of Tonawanda, Cheektowaga, and and Hamburg.
